About the festival

“Silver voice”– festival of choirs and vocal groups

June 30 – July 10

International competition of choirs and vocal groups – unique and exclusive competition festival in Europe.

The festival is held under the auspices of the Municipality of České Budejovice, Trebon and South Bohemia Region.

The organizer of the competition is Czech Endowment Fund the “Mezinarodni Forum Mláděže”.

Each participant will receive a festival badge, a pendant and a commemorative festival gift. All groups will receive diplomas with the emblem of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, valuable gifts from Czech glass engraved with golden angel – the patron of the festival.

Video broadcasted from festivals can be viewed from more than 100 countries around the world.

The competition takes place in a closed hall of the University in the Ceske Budejovice. Competitive concert takes place at the largest medieval square in the Ceske Budejovice – Premysl Otakar II. Square, which is part of the World Heritage List.

Natural acoustics and 16th century´s scenery creates a special and unique atmosphere. The square is filled not only with the audience but also with a spectators who watch the concert from nearby cafes, located around the perimeter of the square the perimeter of the square.

Great interest raises a workshop, which takes place in the unique revolving theatre at the castle from the 13th century in the Cesky Krumlov. Experience the rehearsal in such an exclusive theatre, leaves all the most beautiful impressions rehearsal.

Gala concert will be held in the Church of the Virgin Mary and St. Giles. Amazing acoustics brings pleasure to both as the performers so the audience.

The festival offers a rich selection of programs:

CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION

Each participant of the festival (ensemble or soloist) shall submit an application to the organizing committee and the following documents confirming the intention to participate in the festival:

Confirmation of payment

In response to the application form, the Organizing Committee will send official invitation with the name of the group, the name of the manager and confirmation of reservations, for possible consulate needs. Participants of the festival will receive a competitive program, corresponding with the declared category.

After submitting an application, the advance payment in amount of 1.500 EUR is required. This amount is considered as an advance and is reflected in the final overall budget. The remaining amount – the supplement is necessary to transfer to a bank account of the organizer no later than three weeks prior to arrival.

In case of interest for transportation it is necessary to confirm the order 60 days before arrival.

We invite all children and young people, adults and mixed groups and performers from the Czech Republic and other European and world countries under the age of 28 years, adults:

“Unprofessional art” – categories where can participate children’s and youth ensembles, artists dealing with art based studies, clubs, centres of further education and leisure activities, cultural centres and others. Independent folk groups, supporting regional culture in the region.

“Pro Arts” – a category that is determined for children and youth creative teams and performers engaged on the basis of children’s art schools, music schools and other registered institutions that are in the articles “initial training”, as well as students of secondary specialized schools of music

AIMS OF THE FESTIVAL

International competition festival for children and youth in the Czech Republic and Europe.

The aim of the festival is to support children and youth at the international level on the background of the historical heritage of mankind – cultural monuments under UNESCO protection. Connecting art with eternal youth, masterpieces of architectural works on the most visited places. Furthermore familiarize the general public with new, young, talented performers through the press, live broadcasts, interviews, reports and numerous public concerts.

The festival aims to identify the most talented and brightest performers, release the creative potential of children and youth, preservation of original folk art, support for various types and directions of creative activity, improve the professional level of creative groups and individual artists, introduce the managers and children with new trends and directions in art and pedagogy through creative communication, foster cultural dialogue from different countries, proclamation and implementation of the principle of peaceful coexistence of nations of the world, tolerance and creative understanding.

Nominations:

Vocal (soloists, duets, files)

Vaudeville vocal, jazz singing, academic singing, folk singing (including folklore and ethnography), artistic singing. Soloists may use vocal backing. The soundtrack for academic and folk singing is permitted.

Performance program

For solos, duos, trios and groups: the performance must not exceed 5 minutes. The total length of all the performances should not exceed 10 minutes.

For choirs: estival performance must not exceed a total period of 15 minutes and must be at least 50% A Capella.

Festival jury

The competition program is evaluated by an independent jury composed of prominent personalities from the arts and culture, professional art teachers, sponsors, media representatives, producers and directors from Czech and European theatres.

The jury has the right to: award the prize, not give all grants, and give special awards. The jury has the right to choose the best numbers to the final gala concert.

Chairman of the jury is a musical Doc. Mgr. Jan Maria Dobrodinský, educator, composer, conductor, honorary conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, holder of prestigious award from Czech Minister of Culture, winner of Bedrich Smetana award.

Festival prizes and awards

Participants are awarded based on the results of the competition.

The awards: diploma and “Grand Prix” award, Laureate of I., II. and III. degrees, Diplomats of I., II. and III. degrees, diplomas of participation.

Competitive performances are assessed based on a 20 point rating system. Participants will receive a commemorative gift, managers and sponsors will receive letters of thanks.

The decision of the jury is final and unchangeable.
